Just so you are clear, I did not want a whole bunch of starts and stops since it drops out in less than a minuite and I was hoping to record/copy the whole thing through till the end (up to 6 hrs). Thank you for your quick response "Digital Guru"! I did playback the captured video and it is even worse than what appeared on the live sscreen while recording. It also includes a VHS2DVD capture program but that is quite limited in what it can do. It also contains a lot of other utilities for working with photos, audio, making copies, etc. NXT is a suite of programs that includes more advanced editing and DVD burning. The DVD player may createa continuous signal that does not stop Roxio capture. One workaround is to feed the VHS signal into a DVD player and then feed the output to the capture device. There is not setting that will change the behaviour. This happens with some VHS recorders but not all. Just save the file and start recording again. The program stops recording if it hits a blank spot on the tape and it thinks it is at the end of the tape. The best capture setting is DV and mpg HQ as they give the highest quality. You of course should not be running any other programs when capturing.

The sound/jump problems may be due to your system not being able to keep up with the capture and is dropping frames. The preview window is not an indicator of what the captured video looks like.

Have you played the captured video file? Does it also have the problems. I would like to keep recording anyway since it is the only video I have. I realize that my VHS tape may not be of great quality and there is only so much the software can do. Is there any way to turn this function off? I am using the software and components as explained in the instructions and all is good.except during the "Capture Now" transfer event the software keeps cutting out and asks me if I want to save the file. I am having some problems after I click "Catpure Now" with my Roxio VHS to DVD software.
